Designed to gauge your level of trekking expertise and then suggest appropriate expeditions based on the answers, a new online quiz from The Adventure Company could be just the inspiration you need.

Match flags to Himalayan countries, identify exotic landmarks, point out the correct kit and you’ll soon be awarded a rating anywhere from lowly Ibex to mighty Mountain Goat. A score of eight out of ten pleasingly made me a Condor – a vast improvement on the usual animals I’m identified with. 

Once you’ve got your marks you’ll see a list of adventures that match your level of experience as determined by the programme. For me it was The High Inca Trail, Everest Base camp and the Nepalese Annapurna Circuit. I’m already looking at flights to Kathmandu and hankering after a month in mountain lodges.
