With the world seemingly going 3D-crazy, it's surely the perfect time for the first ever extreme surfing 3D IMAX movie to come out.
“Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D” stars nine-time world champion Kelly Slater.
Award-winning director Stephen Low’s groundbreaking film sees Slater and big wave surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer, tackle the infamous big wave reef break of Teahupo’o in Tahiti.
Filmed last autumn, the development of new filming techniques allowed Low and his team of in-water and airborne cameramen to capture some of the most technically difficult and impressive footage he has filmed in a career that has seen him win over 50 awards.
The immersive experience of 3D on the gigantic IMAX screen is set to throw the audience right into the heart of the incredible power and majesty of one of the oceans’ most treacherouswaves. The sheer force and booming noise of the wave is captured with the use of on-board cameras, allowing cinema-goers to experience the thrill that is only known to the elite surfers.
