These amazing trainers give a truly lightweight feeling to your runs, with a nearly seamless interior that avoids rubbing even when you’re not using socks.
Saucony have such a great reputation among serious runners that the Kinvara 3 have a lot to live up to. Gladly, we found that they exceeded our expectations. Out of the box, they were exceedingly light, just 218g, with foamy-feeling soles and an upper that is mostly mesh. In fact, these two impressions were correct: the upper mesh is a proprietary technology that moulds to the exact shape of your foot, hugging the outline for a better, rub-free fit, and the heels contain memory foam pods for a tighter fit and the midsole has a ProGrid pad that cushions the foot.
So far, so subtle, right? Well, we’ve been running in the Saucony Kinvara 3’s for around six months, probably once a week or so, always on paving or tarmac. They are just as good as you would hope. There are no signs of deterioration on the uppers, the soles are still holding up well and there has been zero chafing. They’ve dried fast when wet with no smell afterwards. The laces are tough and non-slippy, rarely coming undone. The overall gait feels balanced, and we haven’t seen any signs of the soles wearing preferentially in an unusual way.
In short, these are great lightweight trainers that anyone with a hankering to hit the roads should buy. Keep them off the rough trail and they should last the best part of a year with regular use.
